Caring for the Orphans

Our goal with the children is to accurately identify orphans who have lost one or both parents by death and assist the village to take responsibility for them. We plan to encourage the local people to take the orphans into their care and to help them improve the community as a whole. The children will not be residents at NOAH or be kept in any of the facilities overnight. The current requirements to be admitted to the program are: that they must be truly orphaned children between the ages of 1 and 12, and that they must be legitimate residents of one of the eight small villages surrounding the NOAH Project.
The registered Trustees of NOAH go out to the villages and visit children who have been recommended to us for assistance. Based on their experience and knowledge as pastors, and long-term residents of the local area, they document the true case history of each child and screen them for enrollment in the school and the food distribution. We now have more than 100 children from the ages of one to twelve who have been qualified for our aid program. Eligible children under five will be brought to the site daily for food.
A child under our care can be fed for $10 each month and educated for about $10 more. That’s less than the cost of an inexpensive dinner for two in the United States.
